2024 Entry Submission Steps

  1. Contact the Organisers to let us know the number of entries that you would like to submit. Confirm your participation with payment. Your one-off participation fee already comes with awards submission, virtual booth, and/or virtual storefronts.
  2. After payment, submit your entries via our online submission system. You can find the link to the Online Awards Submission above.
  3. Submit your entries before 20 September 2024.
  4. Confirmed participants will receive a video on what jurors are looking for to guide them toward making a comprehensive submission.
  5. Evaluation by jurors will be from 3 to 6 October 2024. Jurors will contact participants for interviews only if they require more information. Participants should make a comprehensive submission of their innovations with a clear explanation and demonstration of their innovations.
  6. Results of MTE 2024: Sustainable Development Goals International Innovation Awards & Expo (SDG IIAE) will be announced virtually on 18 October 2024.
  7. MTE 2024: Sustainable Development Goals International Innovation Awards & Expo will be held from 16-18 October 2024 virtually. The virtual exhibition platform will remain live for an extended period for visitors.

 

2024 Entry Submission Guidelines and Conditions

  1. Entries must be submitted to the online awards submission system by 20 September 2024 – 23:59 (GMT+8). There will be no extensions granted under any circumstances.
  2. There are 5 Award Categories. Entries must be submitted into the category best described and most relevant to your innovation. If an incorrect category is selected, the Awards Committee reserves the right to disqualify the entry.
  3. As a guide, Innovation(s) entered for competition must be an innovation/idea/initiative that is/are directly related to the healthcare solutions for the prevention, treatment, and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and innovative solutions for better healthcare systems. We can help you to select the most relevant category for your entry/entries. Contact us here
  4. Entry fees must be made in full upon submission of entries using online banking transfer or via local cheque. Payment is non-refundable.
  5. Awards entry submissions, interviews, and communications between participants and jurors (if any) will be in English.
  6. The Organiser restricts content that involves nudity, all forms of violence and exploitation, the cruelty of animals, etc. This restriction is due to the diversity in age and cultural backgrounds of our global audience. All content must be appropriate for a general audience. Any inappropriate content submitted by participants will be duly removed without notice to the participant.
  7. The submitted content can be expressed in words, images, sounds or a combination of any, to enable efficient delivery of the critical messages to the judges. Each submission must include items (a) to (d) as explained below:
    a. Synopsis of work/innovation (250 words – MS Word document)
    b. Minimum one video (HD 1080p, max 5 mins). A Youtube link is recommended.
    c. Photo (minimum 1 – jpg format, max 2MB)
    d. Detailed written description of the innovation (PDF – about 500 words)
  8. The online awards submission system allows participants to submit additional supporting documents such as PowerPoint presentations and other documents.
  9. The Organisers reserve the right to the use of photos, videos, synopsis, and write-ups that participants have provided in the online awards submission system for the purpose of the promotion of MTE 2023: Sustainable Development Goals International Innovation Awards & Expo and publicity of your innovation and participation
  10. The same entry may be submitted into multiple product categories. If you wish to enter your innovation in more than one category, you will need to repeat the online submission process for every category that you choose. For example, if you are submitting one innovation for 3 different categories, you will be required to make 3 online submissions. An entry fee is applicable for each submission.
  11. Entries must meet ALL the following requirements BEFORE they are qualified for judging:
    a. All required sections and fields of the online entry application form are completed.
    b. All requirements of above item 7 are fulfilled.
    c. Supported by full payment. Full payment must be made by 20 September 2024.
    d. Incomplete and unpaid entries will be disqualified. The participant is solely responsible for ensuring that their submission is complete.
  12. The jury will evaluate entries submitted in the online submission system. Jurors may request more information at any time to support validation which might include online interviews, emails, or telephone calls.
  13. The jury’s decisions are final and no appeal will be entertained.
  14. Results will be announced on 18 October 2024 on MTE 2024: Sustainable Development Goals International Innovation Awards & Expo’s virtual platform.
  15. MTE 2024: Sustainable Development Goals International Innovation Awards & Expo will take place virtually over 3 days. During this period, visitors will contact participants through our virtual platform via a messaging app and email.
  16. Medals and certificates will be shipped to all winners.
  17. By participating in these Awards, each participant/exhibitor undertakes to guarantee that all information, documentation, and media content submitted are original, accurate and that there is no violation or infringement of the intellectual property and copyright law. Participant(s) is/are solely responsible and liable for any violation or infringement of intellectual property rights or copyright laws. PROTEMP Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn. Bhd. and all stakeholders for this event assume no liability for any form of IP or copyright infringement by participants.

Prof. Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, FASc.

Vice-Chancellor
Universiti Sains Malaysia

Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed, FASc, is the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was formerly the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation. Prof. Abdul Rahman is also a certified Professional Engineer, prominent scholar and researcher. Professor Abdul Rahman attended Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Kulim in Kedah before continuing his studies at the University of Southern California in the USA, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Subsequently, he received his Master’s degree and completed his Ph.D. in 1993 in the same field from the University of New Hampshire, USA.

Professor Abdul Rahman began his professional career as a lecturer at the School of Chemical Engineering (SCE), USM in 1993. He was one of the pioneers of the School and served as the Dean of SCE. As an active researcher, his research interests span across the areas of reaction engineering and catalysis, air pollution, wastewater treatment, fuel technology and nanotechnology. His collaboration with international researchers includes those from Osaka University and Nagaoka University of Technology in Japan; and with the University of Lorraine (France) where he has also broadened his research influence.

He has received more than 80 research grants from various national/international organisations, amounting to more than RM25 million and has published more than 600 research papers in international/national journals and conference proceedings with Scopus bibliographic database recorded H–Index of 93 and total citation around 30,656. He has also graduated more than 50 Master’s and PhD students.

As a result of his excellent research achievements, he has received more than 60 national/ international awards, honors and recognitions, viz; Malaysia Toray Science Foundation Award and Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) (2012); Malaysia’s Rising Star Award (2015); MARA/MRSM Icon (2017) and Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate (2018, 2019 & 2021). Apart from his extensive research work, Professor Abdul Rahman has been instrumental in the success of the University’s cooperation and partnership with the industry. His active involvement in the Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology Centre (CREST) has seen a boost in collaborative R&D projects between USM and the industry.

At the national level, Professor Abdul Rahman serves as the Technical Advisor for the Public Private Research Network (PPRN) and Evaluation Panel for Translational Research@MOHE under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. He is a Field Expert in the Nanotechnology Area and Project Leader of National Graphene Consortium under the National Nanotechnology Centre. As a fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), he has been appointed by ASM as the Industry Focus Group Leader for the Malaysia Science, Technology, Innovation Master Plan (STIMP) 2020-2030 and recently appointed as Chairman of the Task Force on National Nanotechnology Policy and Strategy (NNPS) 2021-2030.
